Sports Aerobatics – Western Port

Well, we travelled down to Western Port on Sunday for what turned out to be a very enjoyable competition for those brave enough to fly! We got slightly wet and the breeze was in our faces, but the day turned out excellent. 4 pilots took to the air and put their aircraft to the test.

Russell Edwards from the Greensborough Club took out first place. He decided a warm up competition prior to the Model Engines Trophy next weekend could not hurt. That little Spot-On with the YS 70 is flying a treat! Admittedly, it is very difficult to make a model spin when the wind speed is higher than the stall speed of the aircraft, as Michael Bourne showed us. Michael took second place with his Magic with the bung wheel. The model kind of stood like Henry before the bionic knee was installed! Greg Eadie took out third also flying a Magic. And Hardy, our fourth pilot, was flying a balsa-cor flute hybrid that could really go!

Henry was the CD and Dennis and Fernando came down to help out with the judging. As usual, they came along with their own models and made sure they got in some valuable practice.

Overall, it was a very successful day. We hope to see more of you at these competitions.

Cheers,

VPA Comms Team
