The MARCS Club hosted a sports aerobatics competition on July 6. Congratulations to Mario Parcesepe who took first place, and David Milner and Tim Passmore for 2nd and 3rd respectively. And also a big thankyou to Graham Scott, Fernando Monge and Adam Crossman for taking on the scoring duties.
It was great to back at one of the early homes of aerobatics in Victoria, with one of the founders (Tony Farnham), and one of the Australian Team (Adam Crossman) joining for the day. We would be misleading you if we claimed this was the perfect weather for aerobatics, but it was flyable, and the keen group from MARCS were there early and ready to go! The judging panel weren't quite so keen, but all were assembled and suitable coffeed up by 10:00am, and competition got underway! The sun and wind conditions required a few modifications to the flight line (and the need for the judges to move to score take-off and landing. Round 1 was copmpleted successfully (but perhaps a little stressfully for those being judged for the first time), after which Scotty led a useful and constructive feedback session before more coffee and more flying! Round 2 saw some improved flying, but was marred by the sad loss of a model in the blustery conditions. More debriefing, lunch (thanks Rocky and team), and then Round 3. With conditions not improving, and three rounds completed, the CDÂ for the day declared it a competition and announced the winners. Select photos can be found in the Gallery. They aren't up to the usual awesome quality as the photographer for the day had been taking photos indoors, and forgot to change a camera setting or two!! |
