Was that really Ballarat?
The sun was out, but it was still windy. The sunscreen was slip-slop-slapping, but we still managed to get slightly sun-burnt. And the sunnies were out in all different shades and colours, but we still couldn’t see the bloody aeroplanes!
I think it caught us all by surprise. We normally pack the winter gear, the ski gloves and the mountain climbing boots to try to keep us warm at Ballarat. But 23 degrees on Saturday and 24 on Sunday made for a spectacular weekend competition.
Dinner at Zagame’s on Friday night (I would have preferred Indian) was good and we had a good time. Oscar’s on Saturday night was excellent!
The reporting via Facebook would have kept most of you informed of the events. The competition was flown on one flight line and we managed to get 4 flights each and still make it home to see the Formula 1 Grand Prix in China.
GlennO took out F3A and beat Bill by a mere 7 raw points! Ben Biggs won Expert in his first outing in that class, but it wasn’t an easy task. The six pilots in Expert were only 160 normalised points apart. That is only 24 raw point separation between first and sixth place! That is what you would call a close contest. Greg Hede was the only one to win his category with a clean sweep winning all rounds. And Will Crossman, flying an Angel S50 (yes, that’s what I said….No YS CDI bla, bla, bla) took Sportsman.
We had two members of the local club have a go. Nick Katsikaros and Mat Werner who came in third in Sportsman. And newcomer John Kalaitsakis from Greensborough came in a very strong second.

Well that’s all for now. We have the State Champs coming up as well as an AGM so get your entries in and get some practice done.
